At the age of 19 I graduated from Earlham College with academic and departmental honors. I focused on studio art, and fulfilled my science requirements while studying abroad in Tanzania, where I was once chased by elephants. While the arts have been my professional focus for many years, I’ve always had a deep calling to enlist art and culture in service to the biodiversity.

For the last ten years I have published, presented, and organized events with diverse communities around the world. I am deeply committed to sharing with a wide audience: In Cambodia I helped run Sammaki, a community art center with a focus on the environment, and organized public programs for SA SA BASSAC, the country’s leading contemporary art gallery. I’ve done similar work on three continents. Now with an infant son, I’m happy to have settled back in Indiana, which I’ve always considered home.

I worked as a staff writer for several years with Hyperallergic and San Francisco Arts Quarterly. Additional publications include Salon, Los Angeles Review of Books, VICE, and many more. Everywhere I go, I’m inspired to celebrate the local wildlife and artists alike.
